Waterglades: the Hidden Worlds of Urban Wetlands explores biodiversity on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and reflects on the value of semi-natural urban features such as wetlands.
The Waterglades, at the edge of East Village, Stratford, are a series of semi-natural wetland habitats that serve as important water reservoirs and are home to many native and non-native species, helping to sustain a biodiverse habitat.
This project is the outcome of the most recent collaboration between Urban Heat Collective and Rosetta Arts, as part of their 2026 Artist Accelerator Programme.

The Urban Heat Collective is a collaboration between urban heat researcher Oscar Brousse, artist and educator Andrew Brown and science communicator and curator Judit Agui. Together we work at the intersection of climate science and artistic practice to explore the factors that affect how people feel in urban environments, focusing particularly on heat and urban micro-climates.

Oscar Brousse
Dr. Oscar Brousse is a lecturer in urban climatology and health, teaching at under- and post-graduate levels. His research employs urban climate modelling, satellite remote sensing, and crowdsourced or research-led weather sensor networks. He joined UCL in September 2020 to work as a research fellow on the HEROIC project and followed by the CHHANW project as a senior research fellow, both funded by Wellcome Trust. His training as a geographer specialized in urban climate studies and modelling allowed him to work in, and collaborate with, a variety of research environments across the globe.

Andrew is an artist, educator and transdisciplinary researcher based at SPACE Studios, Ilford. He uses digital, analogue, historic and alternative photographic processes alongside soundscapes, texts and artefacts to explore the impact on communities of climate crisis and rapid changes in the built and natural environment in east London. Recent commissions include UP projects, UCL Cultural and Community Engagement, the Arts Council and SPACE/Aetreum, and collaborative work with East London Textile Arts, River Roding Trust, Humorisk CIC, Thames Ward Community Project and UCL Institute of Environmental Design and Engineering.

Judit Agui
Judit is a curator and creative producer working across art, ecology and education. She is passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration and participatory projects. Her curatorial practice explores the relationships between humans, scientific research and nature, through site-specific artworks, exhibitions, festivals, events and workshops. Her most recent work includes the latest biennial Richmond Arts and Ideas Festival and the Vital Signs Library.
